Contribution to meeting of goals: School completion for teen heads <br />of households can contribute to meeting the following goals: <br />· Meeting both Federal participation rates <br />· Reducing the Work First caseload <br />· Prevention of welfare dependency <br /> <br />12. Vocational Educational Training <br /> a. Description: Vocational Educational Training is designed to provide <br /> a particular curriculum of skills to a recipient in an. intensive, relatively <br /> short-term program to gain them employment in a particular <br /> occupational area. For recipients that display the ability and <br /> commitment to follow through, it will most likely get them higher <br /> wages than they otherwise would realize without the training. It is <br /> limited to 12 months. <br /> b. Provision: Vocational Education courses of study are offered by the <br /> local community college, and would be provided after <br /> recommendation by the social worker. <br /> c. Contributions to meeting of goals: Vocational Educ. ation training <br /> will contribute to meeting the following goals: <br /> · Adults entering employment <br /> · Meeting both Federal Participation Rates <br /> · Providing employment services <br /> · Remaining off Work First for employment <br /> · Employed 6 and 12 months after leaving Work First <br /> · Reducing the Work First caseload <br /> · Prevention of Welfare Dependency <br /> <br />13. Education Directly Related to Employment <br /> a. Description: Even though it is the consensus that a high school <br /> diploma or GED is a bottom line necessity, and the starting point <br /> toward additional training or employment, in some instances, <br /> recipients who do not have these may benefit from education that is <br /> directly job-related. This would not be common, but an employer may <br /> have need of some educational ability that would not require a high <br /> school diploma or GED, and could contract with the community <br /> college to provide it. The Work First recipient identified could enroll <br /> in this program in order to qualify for the job. <br /> b. Provision: This activity would be provided by employers who need <br /> special abilities and who contract with the community college to <br /> provide the needed education to acquire these abilities. <br /> c. Contributions to meeting of goals: This educational activity will <br /> contribute to meeting the following goals: <br /> · Adults entering employment <br /> · Meeting both Federal Participation Rates <br /> · Providing employment services <br /> Remaining off Work First for employment <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
