Reducing the Work First caseload <br /> <br />B. Supportive Services <br /> <br />1. Case Management <br /> a. Description: The case manager or social worker is the primary <br /> coordinator of all services provided to the recipient. They must have a <br /> wide knowledge of community partners. From the beginning of the <br /> process, the case manager works with the recipient to move them <br /> toward independence, when at all possible. The work of the case <br /> manager consists of arranging for services, coordinating these services, <br /> counseling, training in job readiness, assisting in crisis situations, and <br /> helping with financial and time management. In areas where a <br /> recipient has been sanctioned due to non-compliance with Work First <br /> requirements, the social worker will maintain contact for three months <br /> to ensure that the children in the home are not being deprived. <br /> b. Provision: The Work First Employment Social Worker will be the <br /> case manager of the case, and will be the primary provider of the <br /> above supportive services. <br /> e. Location: Most services under case management will take place in <br /> one of two places, DSS or the recipients' homes. In some instance, it is <br /> conceivable that it may occur in school or the workplace. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Child Care <br />a. Description: <br /> <br /> Childcare will be available as funding permits for all <br /> employed Work First recipients. If needed, Block Grant funding can <br /> be used to purchase this service. <br />b. Provision: Child care assistance will be managed by staff of the Day . <br /> Care Unit at the Department of Social Services. They will receive a <br /> referral from the Work First Social Worker, and take and process the <br /> application for childcare, giving the recipient counseling and the <br /> choice of providers for the care. <br />c. Location: Child care assistance will be located at DSS. <br /> <br />ge <br /> <br />Work-Related Expenses and Participation Expenses <br />a. Description: Work-related and participation expenses for Work First <br /> recipients are costs that can be incurred and are directly related to <br /> obtaining and maintaining a job, as determined by the Social Worker. <br /> These expenses can consist of: clothing for work and interviews, tools, <br /> uniforms, car repairs, car insurance, tires. It is understood that these <br /> are one-time expenses, and should not be provided if, by the social <br /> worker's determination, that this will be ongoing, and will be needed <br /> on a regular basis to maintain employment. Other work-related and <br /> participation expenses can be approved, on an as needed and assessed <br /> basis, and approved by the Work First Employment Supervisor. <br /> <br /> <br />
