Special recognition was <br />given to Dabble Bost, Cooperative Extension Director, and Mary Ann Cooper, <br />Fair Coordinator, for their efforts on behalf of the 2002 Fair. <br />(C-2) C-~arrus County Emergency M~d~cal Services (EMS) - Good S~ritan Award <br />Program <br /> <br /> Mr. Michael Stafford, EMS Shift Supervisor, explained the EMS Good <br />Samaritan Award Program that recognizes local citizens for their actions <br />during an emergency. He presented Good Samaritan Awards =0 the following <br />persons= (1) Firefighters Bradley Christopher, James Green and Keith S=arnes <br />for their actions =0 rescue a trapped firefighter; (2) Amanda Rhodes for <br />removing her child and husband from a residence filled with smoke; and (3) <br />Baxter Stegall (award accepted by Mr. Stegall's father) for providing support <br />to a critically injured accident victim and assisting paramedics in =heir <br />care of the victim. In addition, Mr. Stafford presented a service award to <br />Tim Robison, an EMT-Intermediate, who assisted a pa=lent in the hospital <br />emergency room by retrieving medication from =he patient's vehicle that had <br />been left beside the road and securing that vehicle. <br /> <br /> (C-3) Procla~mtion - Cabarrua County Centenarians Day (September 20, 2002) <br /> Ms. Chasity Stoker, Aging Programs Coordinator, reported that September <br />22, 2002, has been designated as National Centenarians Day. She reviewed the <br />special activities that are planned at the Senior Center on Sap=ember 20 to <br />recognize the centenarians in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Prive=te, seconded by Commissioner Fennel <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County <br /> Proclamation <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County is Joining the Nation to recognize and honor <br />Centenarians for =heir continued contributions no the County, the State, and <br />=he Nation and call attention to the significance of the past as well as =he <br />issues that affect them in the present; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, longevity of life is a blessing to an individual and =o a community <br /> by providing an opportunity for an investment of knowledge, creativity, and <br /> experience for all; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Cabarrus recognizes =he contribution of older adults <br /> and centenarians to our community and the important role they serve in our <br /> society; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus centenarians have earned the respect and admiration of the <br /> citizens of the county because of their vast knowledge, experience, wisdom, <br /> and community spirit; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Centenarians have contributed a great deal to the lives of family, <br /> friends, and all with whom they have become acquainted over the span of their <br /> full life; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Centenarians have reached the age of 100 years or more, <br /> this special recognition by =he County of Cabarrus for many <br /> contributions =o the community; <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Cabarrus County Board of <br /> Commissioners recognizes September 20, 2002 as' <br /> <br /> -Cabarrus County Centenarians Day" <br /> <br /> and urges all citizens of Cabarrus County to pay special tribute to this day <br /> ~nd to these very special members of our community. <br /> <br /> This the 16~ day of September 2002. <br /> <br /> /S/ Rober~ M.
