September 16, 2002 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />Page 445 <br /> <br />(D) OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Expo Update <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton gave a brief update on the Expo project and the recent <br />Fair. Although numbers have not been confirmed, he stated that attendance at <br />this year's Fair would probably exceed previous years. A meeting will be <br />held =o critique the 2002 Fair, with additional parking a main issue for <br />future fairs. <br /> <br />(E) CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />(E-l) Approval of Change Order Rec~uests for the Cabarrus Arena and Event <br />Center <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanzmously carried, the Board approved the following change orders to <br />the contract with Matthews Construction Company, Inc., and the other requests <br />related to the ongoing construction process at the F~xpo: <br /> <br />Change Order #54 Parking Lot Striping $ 2,048.00 <br />Change Order #55 Conduits/Comm-Data $ 56,667.00 <br />Change Order #56 Add floor duct/Events Center $ 6,234.00 <br />Change Order #57 Deduct windows - Gold Hall ($ 21,100.00) <br /> <br />Cable Express Technologies <br />Culp Brothers, Inc. <br /> <br />Network System/Expo $ 40,555.51 <br />Install Water & Sewer/ $ 2,355.00 <br /> Fair Office <br /> <br /> (E-2) Approval of Urgent Repair Program Assistance Policy <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Urgent Repair Program <br /> Assistance Policy for the 2003 Cycle of the Urgent Repair Program as <br /> submitted by Ms. Kelly Sifford, Come, unity Development Manager; and authorized <br /> the Chairman to execute the Assistance Policy on behalf of Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> (E-3) Resolution Approving $10,000 in Local Match for the Urgent Repal, <br /> Program <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution approving <br /> the transfer of $10,000.00 in match funds for the Urgent Repair Program. <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 2002 - 33 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION BY THE CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> TO APPROVE $10,000 IN LOCAL MATCH FOR THE URGENT REPAIR <br /> PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County, North Carolina has determined that the health and <br />welfare of their jurisdiction may benefit from increasing the availability of <br />safe, affordable and standard housing; and <br /> <br />W~EREAS, Cabarrus County, North Carolina has determined that providing safe, <br />affordable and standard housing will benefit the work force productivity and <br />area economic development; and ' <br /> <br />WHER~%S, the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency has an Urgent Repair <br />Program grant available to repair emergency needs of special needs <br />individuals and families; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />that: <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Board o~ Commissioners authorizes staff to make <br />application to the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency for an Urgent <br />Repair Program grant to suppor~ identified housing goals in Cabarrus <br />County; and <br />Cabarrus County will provide $10,000 in local match for the North <br />Carolina Housing Finance Agency Urgent Repair Program, if funded, to <br />further the goal of safe, affordable and standard housing in Cabarrus <br />County. <br /> <br /> <br />
