13.3
Expiration of Development Approvals

This section in the UDO requires development permits to be secured within a set
time period from the date of approval, There is not such a requirement in the
existing ordinance. The new requirements will-help with the enforcement of the
ordinance and will require a property owner to act on a previously approved
permit, With the present ordinance we do not regulate when the development
should occur except within our Subdivision Regulations, As a result we could
have someone with an approval of a variance that is several years old wanting to
begin developing the property as previously approved. This could create a
problem if the adjacent properties have been developed according to the
ordinance and would not be compatible with a previously approved variance or
conditional use.

Examples:

None
