7. Increasing Child Support Orders and Collections for Work First Families <br /> <br />a. How this goal will be met: As Cabarrus County has done in the past, there <br /> will continue to be close cooperation from the Work First area and the Child <br /> Support Office at the depar~ent. Non-custodial fathers of active Work Fizst <br /> families will be pursued for child support. If unemployed, they will be <br /> assisted in obtaining the highest paying job possible for them. This will be an <br /> ongoing effort starting with Intake and followed throughout the course of the <br /> time the recipient is receiving WFFA. <br />b. Activities and support to be provided: The Intake worker will assist the <br /> client in beginning the process of pursuing the absent parent. Once identified, <br /> the child support unit will pursue for payment. The Employment services area <br /> will assist when the absent father needs assistance, due to any number of <br /> factors, in getting a stable job. This can be through motivation, counseling, or <br /> financial or material assistance. <br />e. Management of activities and support services: The Employment Services <br /> area and the Child Support Office will manage all activities for thc meeting of <br /> this goal. <br />d. Location of activities: This will be located at DSS, court, as well as in the <br /> field, as the social workers will assist the absent parents at home through <br /> counseling and motivation to meet their responsibilities to their children. <br />c. Documentation of progress toward goal: Cabarrus County will use child <br /> support collections and court data for orders to document progress toward this <br /> goal. <br /> <br />8. Child Well-Being <br /> <br />a. How this goal will be met: In order for this goal to be met, there will be <br /> close coordination between Employment Services and the Child Welfare <br /> Division of the department. When a child, whose parent is involved in <br /> Employment Services, is identified as having an active child welfare case, <br /> there will be coordination 'of services to the family, so as to ensure that the <br /> Employment Plan does not interfere with the Child Safety Plan. <br />b. Activities and support to be provided: Primary activities required to meet <br /> this goal will involve the coordination of all.support to families to ensure that <br /> the safety of the child is not jeopardized, while at the same time, moving the <br /> family toward the goal of self-sufficiency. <br />c. Management of activities and support services: Primary responsibility for <br /> cases in this area will be joint management by Employment and Child Welfare <br /> social workers. Outside professionals may be utilized, at the direction of the <br /> agency staff. <br />d. Location of activities: There will be a variety of locations for these <br /> activities, including the department, menial health, private counselors, and any <br /> other professional deemed necessary by staff. <br /> <br /> <br />
