Seamon, Chairman . of the S~onewall Jackson Commu~ty <br />Advisory Council, requested support of =he Council's recommendation that the <br />Department of Juvenile Just/ce and Delinquenc~ Prevention move forward with <br />the sale of approximately 13.87S acres of Stonewall Jackson School property <br />fronting old Charlotte Road. Ro~srs & Associates, Gould 'Limited and R~storic <br />Preservation Advisors LLC propose to purchase the property for $200,000.00 <br />and convert the buildings to conm~rcial use by renovating the property wi=bin <br />historical preser~ation standards established by Preservation North Carolina. <br /> <br /> U~ON HOTEON of Commissioner Privates, seconded by Comndssioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 2001-05 <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> W~2ERFJ~,. Bonds, Clerk <br /> <br />Transfer of Van £ro~ Connt~ Transportat4on Service to the Department o£ <br /> <br /> Mr. Marshall introduced Mr. James Sasser who recently Joined the County <br />~lannlng staff as Transportation ~lanner. <br /> <br /> Mr. gasser outlined the proposal to transfer a van from Transpor=~tion <br />Services to the Department of Social Services (DSS). He sCa=ed that DSS plans <br />to contract with a third party vendor to provide- transports=ion services <br />outside the current transportation contract. The vendor would provide <br />appropriate insurance coverage for the vehicle. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Cook, Social Services Director, reported the Salvation A~my <br />Board had requested transportation services in the morning and evenin~ for <br />persons staying at =he local Night shelter. Th~ Department will contract with <br />a local taxi company to provide the ~ranspor~ntion services, specifically to <br />assist those who are trying to work or need transportation to the human <br />service agencies. Mr. Cook estimated the annual cost at $1s,000.00 with some <br />reimbursement through Federal funds.
