F. <br />ADULT CARE HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />APPOINTM~.NTS AND ACfivfl'ufiS <br /> <br />VOLUNTEER JOB DES~ON <br /> <br /> The Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee (NHCAC) and the Adult Care Home Comnmnity Advisory <br />- Committee (ACHCAC) serve the residents of long term care facilities within the county. The commhtees have <br /> legislative authority to monkor the Residents' Bill of Risl~s, promote community hrvolvement in the homes, <br /> provide public education on long term ~are issues, assist reside~ in ~rievance resolution and promote elder <br />- abuse awareness. (G.S. 131 I)-31, G.S. 131 F.,-128) <br /> <br />1NHCAC members are required to visit all nursing homes once a quarter as a co~umi~tee and ate to visit <br />individually u often as pos-mole. ACHCAC members are to visit Adult Care Homes quarterly, l~amily Care <br />Home and Group Homes for Developmentally .D~sabled Adults aa-maally as a committee w/th individual visits <br />being carried out as often as posm'ole. Bu_~ess meetin~ are held on a q:,,~nerly bash. Trak/n8 and in - facility <br />orientation will be provided by the North Carolina Division of Aging through the Regional Ombudsman <br />Program. ' <br /> <br />- Members ,of these committees must reside ~ the county that the committee serves. They should attend <br /> training sessions and be able to efF~ communicate with the residents and fac~fiW staff. All committee <br /> members are appointed by the County Commissioners. One-third are to be nominated by <br /> All appointees shall, serve an initisl one year term and then may be re-appointed ~o a subsequent t~,u of two or <br /> three years for ACHCAC and three years for NFICAC. <br /> <br />-- The legislation requires that "no person or immedhte family member ora peFson with a fln~ncbl interest <br /> in a home served by the commi~ee, or employee or governing board member of* · home served by the <br /> committee, or immediate family member of a resident in a home served by the commitUe may be · <br /> member of that committee". They have the opp0ntmity to meet a wide <br />variety of people as they carry out committee responm'oilides.
