Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes <br />March 15, 2001 . <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />Mr. Hinson said the only way they would get a tractor-trailer would <br />be if it were some kind of direct shipment. He said if they get <br />anything that is big it goes directly to-the job site because it is too <br />large for them to handle at their business. <br /> <br />Mr. Brian Joyner, Resident, 'addressed the Board stating he strongly <br />opposes the rezoning amendment. He said the value of his <br />property would be decreased and also he agrees with Mr. Marlin <br />about the traffic congestion. <br /> <br />The Chair closed the Public Hearing on Petition C01-01(R). <br /> <br />There being no further comments Mr. Drye MOTJ:ONED to approve <br />Petition C0:L-01(R) based on the staff recommendation and the <br />petition as presented, seconded by Mr. Dwiggins. ,. <br /> <br />Mr. Hilt said Flowe Store Road is terribly congested, and it is almost <br />an impossible intersection to get across. He said he believes that <br />there is going to be a safety hazard for the school buses coming up <br />to A.T. Allen school.'- Mr. Hill said he is not sure that it is really <br />compatibility with what is in the neighborhood. He said he does <br />not feel good about sticking a business that is of this ilk into a <br />residential area. Mr. Hill said the congestion, the safety of the <br />children, the school buses and the compatibility worries him, <br /> <br />Ms. Lingafelt said she live off of Flowe Store Road and she can <br />speak for herself to the congestion that is on the road. She said it <br />is too much for what she consider a secondary road to handle. <br /> <br />Mr. Ritchie said he disagrees wit.h~,what has been said about the <br />congestion. He said he does not think that' this is going to affect <br />the traffic flow versus a subdivision or anything else that we could <br />put in there. He said about the land value he does not think it will <br />affect the value of the land. Mr. Ritchie said he is going to vote in <br />favor of this motion because he does not think it is going to disturb <br />the community, <br /> <br />Mr. Dwiggins asked about the nature of home base. businesses <br />currently around the property. <br /> <br /> <br />
