104 <br /> <br /> At 9:05 p.m., Chairman Fennel asked if anyone was present who wished to <br />address the Hoard regarding the proposed Secondary Road Construction Program. <br />There was ne one present to speak regarding the proposed program. <br /> <br /> U~ON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 2001-08 <br /> A RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO THE <br />2001-2002 SECONDARY ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM <br /> FOR CASARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation has submitted a <br /> proposed Cabarrus County · 2001-2002 Secondary and Trust <br /> Construction Program in the amount of $931,241.00, of which <br /> $618,240.00 is proposed for secondary construction proJects~ and <br /> representatives of the Department of Transportation in accordance <br /> with North Carolina General Statute 136-44.8 met with the Hoard <br /> of County Commissioners at a regular meeting of the Board on May <br /> 21, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. in the Commissioners' Meeting Room at the <br /> Cabarrus County Governmental Center in Concord, North Carolina, <br /> in order to present to and discuss with the Board and other <br /> citizens present the proposed 2001-2002 Secondary Road Program; <br /> and <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute 136-44.8 provides that the Hoard <br /> of County Coamlissioners, after the'presentation and discussion of <br /> the annua~ Secondary Road Program, may concur with the program as <br /> proposed. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the <br />County of Cabarrus that said Hoard does concur with the 2001-2002 Secondary' <br />Road Program as presented by the North Carolina Department of Transportation <br />and does recommend that the Board of Transportation adopt the proposed <br />program for Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />Adopted this 21~= day of May, 2001. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Frankie F. Fennel, Chairman <br />Hoard of Commissioners <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton advised that Mr. Larry Helms, a member of the Union County <br />Board of Commissioners, has been appointed to the Board of Transportation. Be <br />suggested that the Hoard may wish to talk with Mr. Helms regarding funding <br />for the Christenbury Road project. <br /> <br />Proposed F~ 2002 Ca~arrus Count~ Budget - Public Hearing - 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> At 9=07 p.m., Chairman Fennel opened the public hearing on the proposed <br />Fiscal Year 2802 Cabarrus County Budget and asked if anyone wished to speak <br />for Or against 'the proposed budget. The Notice of the Public Hearing was <br />published in THE INDEPENDENT TRIBUNE and in THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER (Cab~rrus <br />Neighbors) on April 29 and May 10, 2001. <br /> <br /> There was no one present to address the Hoard, and Chairman Fennel <br />closed the public hearing. <br /> <br /> The Board will continue review of the proposed budget in a work session <br />on Tuesday, May 22. <br /> <br />REPORTS <br /> <br />Local Sales and Use Tax U~date <br /> <br /> The Board received a Memorandum frpm Mr. Blair Bennett, Deputy County <br />Manager for Administration, showing the Local Sales and Use .Tax at <br />$4,695,850.00 for the third quarter ending March 31, 2001. This reflected a <br />much slower growth rate and was only 6.60 percent higher than March 2000 <br /> <br /> <br />
