Patterson
Cabarrus County Sheriffs Office
Post Office Box 525
Concord, North Carolina 28026

Dear Captain Patterson:

The Governor's Crime Commission has completed another successful grant awards process. This
administration has worked diligently, through this process, to address the major crime problems which plague
our communities. Drug conlrol and substance abuse programs have been implemented throughout the state and
have been successful in lowering the state's crime rate. Juvenile prevention programs have targeted at-risk
youth before they become ensnared in criminal behavior while juvenile intervention projects have focused on
helping those youth who have a~___dy come into contact with the juvenile justice ~tstem. Domestic violence
initiatives have been sim~d in order to break the destructive cycle of family violenc~ and to reach out and help
the many victims of this t~rrible crime. Finally, information and technology programs have enabled countless
agencies to improve their managemmat information systems and consequently enhanc~ their criminal history
r~cords.

Funding decisions are always difficult, given the large numbers of stTong applications we receive each
year. Commission members spend countless numbers of hours considering each application in an effort to
select programs and projects that will best serve the citizens ofthis state as we strive to reduce crime and
improve safety. Having said this, I mn pleased to inform you that your applic~ion was among those that wer~
approved. Funding for your project has been authorized in the amount of $58,500.00. Your official award and
further instruotions will be mailed separately by the Commission and should arrive shortly.

Again, your program is a shining example of how we, working together, can have far-roaching impact
on the problems that plague our communing. We commend you for your dedication, hard work and
commitment to safer communities and brighter opportunities for families across North Carolina.

With kindest regards, I remain

MFE:cl

Very truly yoUrSey~

LOCATiOn: 116 W~ST Josgs S~rr * R~L~ICn, NC · T£LZimONZ: (919) 733-5811
