221 <br /> <br />Home and community Care Block Grant Steering Committee <br /> Sandra Russell - Social Services <br /> Susan Donaldson - Department of Aging <br /> <br />Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br /> <br /> The Board received the recommendations from the Nominating Committee of <br />the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) for the appointment of the <br />following persons to at-large positions on the JC?C: Troy Barnhardt; Samuel <br />Leder; and Jerry W. Sigmon. <br /> <br /> UPON F~DTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette a~d <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following appointments to fill <br />at-large positions on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council: Troy Barnhardt; <br />Samuel Leder; and Jerry W. Sigmon. All terms of appointment will end on June <br />30, 2003. <br /> <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br /> <br /> UPON ~4OTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed MS. Kathryn Curry to the Adult Care <br />Home Community Advisory Committee for an initial term of one year ending <br />October 31, 2002. <br /> <br />Home and Communi~ Care Block Grant Steering Committee <br /> <br /> The Board confirmed that Ms. Susan Donaldson (Department of Aging) and <br />Ms. Sandra Russell (Department of Social Services), who were appointed to the <br />Home and Community Care Block Grant Steering Co~ittee on Septer~oer 17 and <br />who reside outside Cabarrue County, may stay on the committee until their <br />term ends on June 30, 2003. However, the Board declined to consider the <br />appointment of nominees (Mike Murphy, Chasity Stoker and Laurie Aboundaer) <br />who live outside Cabarrus County and asked for other nominees at the meeting <br />on November 19, 2001. <br /> <br />Nursin~ Home Community Advisory Committee - Acceptance of Resic~ations and <br />Removal of Member from the Commi=tee <br /> <br /> O~ON MOTION of Commissioner PrSvette, seconded by Vice Chairman Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the resignations of MS. Patti H. <br />Fruit and Ms. Kristle Griffith from the Nursing Home Community Advisory <br />Committee due to relocations. Further, the Board removed Mr. Dennis Reid <br />from the advisory committee for failure to complete required training. <br /> <br />INFORMAL pUBLIC CO~4ENTS <br /> <br /> At 8:26 p.m., Chairman Fennel o~ened the meeting for Informal Public <br />Comments. There was no one present to address the Board, and Chairman Fennel <br />closed that portion of the meeting. <br /> <br />CO~4ISSIONERS DISCUSSION & RESPONSE TO INFOP~qAL PUBLIC COUNTS (if neede~ <br /> <br /> Vice Chairman Carruth, delegate to the Centralina Council of <br />Governments (COG), reported that Mr. Jim Hassinger, Executive Director of COG <br />since November 2000, would be leaving the organization in November. Also, he <br />advised that COG delegates met recently to comsider the future direction of <br />COG and ways to revamp the organization as a more regional voice for the <br />Metrolina area. He stated he would keep the Board posted on events as COG <br />begins the search process for a new director. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel asked that the Board consider at its November meeting <br />the formation of a ~National and Cabarrus County Day of Brayer Committee". <br />He stated the proposed committee would be responsible for planning and <br />putting on the festivities for the Cabarrus County and National Day of Prayer <br />that is held annually on the first Thursday of May. Further, he proposed <br />that each Board member be responsible for naming one individual to the five- <br />member committee with appointments to be made in December. . There was general <br />consensus to consider the formation of the committee at the November meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
