221 Home and community Care Block Grant Steering Committee Sandra Russell - Social Services Susan Donaldson - Department of Aging Juvenile Crime Prevention Council The Board received the recommendations from the Nominating Committee of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) for the appointment of the following persons to at-large positions on the JC?C: Troy Barnhardt; Samuel Leder; and Jerry W. Sigmon. UPON F~DTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette a~d unanimously carried, the Board approved the following appointments to fill at-large positions on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council: Troy Barnhardt; Samuel Leder; and Jerry W. Sigmon. All terms of appointment will end on June 30, 2003. Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee UPON ~4OTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman Fennel and unanimously carried, the Board appointed MS. Kathryn Curry to the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee for an initial term of one year ending October 31, 2002. Home and Communi~ Care Block Grant Steering Committee The Board confirmed that Ms. Susan Donaldson (Department of Aging) and Ms. Sandra Russell (Department of Social Services), who were appointed to the Home and Community Care Block Grant Steering Co~ittee on Septer~oer 17 and who reside outside Cabarrue County, may stay on the committee until their term ends on June 30, 2003. However, the Board declined to consider the appointment of nominees (Mike Murphy, Chasity Stoker and Laurie Aboundaer) who live outside Cabarrus County and asked for other nominees at the meeting on November 19, 2001. Nursin~ Home Community Advisory Committee - Acceptance of Resic~ations and Removal of Member from the Commi=tee O~ON MOTION of Commissioner PrSvette, seconded by Vice Chairman Carruth and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the resignations of MS. Patti H. Fruit and Ms. Kristle Griffith from the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee due to relocations. Further, the Board removed Mr. Dennis Reid from the advisory committee for failure to complete required training. INFORMAL pUBLIC CO~4ENTS At 8:26 p.m., Chairman Fennel o~ened the meeting for Informal Public Comments. There was no one present to address the Board, and Chairman Fennel closed that portion of the meeting. CO~4ISSIONERS DISCUSSION & RESPONSE TO INFOP~qAL PUBLIC COUNTS (if neede~ Vice Chairman Carruth, delegate to the Centralina Council of Governments (COG), reported that Mr. Jim Hassinger, Executive Director of COG since November 2000, would be leaving the organization in November. Also, he advised that COG delegates met recently to comsider the future direction of COG and ways to revamp the organization as a more regional voice for the Metrolina area. He stated he would keep the Board posted on events as COG begins the search process for a new director. Chairman Fennel asked that the Board consider at its November meeting the formation of a ~National and Cabarrus County Day of Brayer Committee". He stated the proposed committee would be responsible for planning and putting on the festivities for the Cabarrus County and National Day of Prayer that is held annually on the first Thursday of May. Further, he proposed that each Board member be responsible for naming one individual to the five- member committee with appointments to be made in December. . There was general consensus to consider the formation of the committee at the November meeting.
