Day, Deputy County Manager ~d,,/ Date: February 16, 2000 Re: Government Center Renovations - Planning Services and Information Technology Services At the August 30th, 1999 Board of Commissioners meeting you approved a project to renovate the office space used by Information Technology Services (my memo to you from that meeting is attached). Total cost was estimated at $194,000. To address other office space demands, you also approved a plan at your October 1999 meeting to move the Parks and Recreation Department to the county-owned building housing the economic development corporation. Planning Services was authorized to move to the space in the Government Center vacated by Parks and Recreation, thus allowing Development Services to expand into the space currently occupied by Planning Services. Construction specifications for these projects were developed and bids were received February 15th (bid tabulation is attached). C. M. Black submitted the low bid of $103,373. Attached is a budget amendment in the amount of $162,972 to complete this project: $103,373 for construction; $10,627 for contingency; and $48,972 for cabling, a technical workbench and cubicles/workstations. The total project cost of$182,172 is nearly $12,000 less than was originally estimated for just the Information Technology Services Department renovations alone. Please approve the attached budget amendment and award the construction project to the low-bidder, C. M. Black Construction Company.
