Day, Deputy County Manage <br /> r/~ <br />Date: August 23, 1999 <br />Re: Modification of Information Technology Services Office Space <br /> <br />During a budget work session earlier this year the issue of office space modifications in <br />the Information Technology Services Department was discussed. Because of the addition <br />of several new positions and changes in the type and nature of work, the current office <br />layout is inefficient and inadequate. <br /> <br />The county manager denied minor modifications requested in the budget, pending further <br />evaluation. With his approval, David Harmon, of DDB Architecture, was hired to <br />develop floor plan changes that would maximize utilization and minimize demolition and <br />new construction. <br /> <br />Attached is the new floor plan developed by Mr. Harmon with the assistance of ITS staff <br />and the county manager. Mr. Harmon has estimated the construction cost (detail also <br />attached) at $123,390 and architectural and engineering fees at $19,200. Other associated <br />costs total $41,000 (cabling, technical workbench, cubicles/workstations). <br /> <br />I urge you to approve this project. Total cost is estimated at $194,000, which includes a <br />contingency of $10,410. With Board approval, construction bids for this project will be <br />solicited.
