DRAFT <br />Board authorized a budget appropriation of $350,000.00 and the use of <br />$400,000.00 already appropriated for the school bus property purchase with <br />the understanding the County School Board will allocate the existing school <br />bus garage property to the County when the bus garage is relocated to the <br />Highway 49 property. <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton reported that the Cabarrus School Board had approved the <br />proposed site for their administrative office, maintenance and school bus <br />garage facilities. <br /> <br />ProPosed UPSet Bfd for the County School Adminfstrativ9 Complex on Nfqhway 29, <br />Concord <br /> <br /> The Board received the proposal from Carpenter/Benderson to purchase the <br />County Schools Administrative Office Complex on Kighway 29 in Concord. The <br />proposal included the following: (1) Carpenter/Sanderson will purchase the <br />approximately fifteen (15) acre tract on U.S. 29 for $1,425~000.00 or <br />$95,000.00 per acre subject to conditions as laid OUt in the submitted <br />contract; (2) Carpenter/Sanderson further agrees to design and develop for <br />Cabarrus County Schools a 67,300 square foot administrative facility as <br />described in the attached scope for a price of $3,850,000.00 (including all <br />sitework, paving, landscaping as described in the scope) this proposal assumes <br />developer will be paid monthly based on 95 percent of the work complete and <br />materials delivered. (3) This facility will be constructed on a rough graded <br />site with utilities provided by Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the upset bid process for the County <br />School Administrative Complex on Highway 29 as set forth in the <br />Carpenter/Sanderson proposal (see above) subject to: (1) Approval/Request by <br />the Board of Education; (2) Agreement to an alternate site; and (3) any legal <br />parameters established by recommendation of the County Attorney. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hartsell explained that the proposal was a complicated transaction <br />and special legislation may be required. <br /> <br />R~9~s of Meebin~ <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Fennel <br />recessed the meeting at 11:05 P.M. u~til 6:30 P.M. on Monday, March 27, 2000, <br />in the Multipurpose Room at the Governmental Center. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
