Board of Commissioners Jonathan Marshall, Planning Services Dept, Frank Clifton, County Manager 05/09/00 Fishertown/Pdnceton Park Community Development Ms. Corfinne Cannon addressed the Board of Commissioners at the Apdl 17,2000 meeting and requested that furl)her sanitary sewer improvements be considered near Charlie Walker Road in the area of the Fishertown and Princeton Park communities. The Board then requested that I present a report at the May meeting detailing pest community development activity and possibilities for future There have been three seperate Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects in this ama since the late 80's. Details on those projects are attached in summary form, but in general, they include both sanitary sewer extension and housing rehabilitation. The County also extended public water to the area as a non-CDBG project and those costs are not reflected on the CDBG activity summary. We are completing a map of the area that indicates the houses that were rehabilitated through the CDBG projects, and shows the main water and sewer lines. That map will be presented at your meeting along with preliminary information on further sanitary sewer extensions. There are different options that may be considered for further CDBG activity. Those options include applying fo~ infrastructure only grants (e.g. just sanitary sewer), or housil3g rehabilitation grants that would include sewer extension. We have not applied for these grants in the pest because much of the area that is unserved does not qualify as Iow to moderate income. As a result, we did not feel we would have a compe~ve grant application, and that position is only increased by the needs of the eastern pert of the State due to Hurricane Floyd.
