Hinson on His Retirement fr~m the Cabarr~s <br />County Sheriff's Department - Sheriff Robert Cana~¥ <br /> <br /> Sheriff Robert Canaday recognized Sergeant Larry J. Hinson on his <br />retirement from the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department. Sergeant Hinson <br />began work as a Deputy Sheriff on Dece~9~er 13, 1971 and retired on April 6, <br />2000. <br /> <br /> On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Barnhart presented a plaque to <br />Sergeant Hinson in appreciation for his service to Cabarrus County and its <br />citizens. <br /> <br />Reco~nition of Northwest Cabarrus Hiah School <br />Successful CPR Trainina Pro4e¢~ Held on Anti1 6, 2000 - Vice Chair Carolyn <br />Carp~n~gr <br /> <br /> A free adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training session was <br />held at Northwest Cabarrus High School on April 6. The event was organized <br />as a year end project by the Student Council in an effort to break the <br />current Guinness Book of World Records for the nu~0er of individuals <br />simultaneously trained in Adult CPR at one location. Over 1,420 students, <br />teachers and me~ers of the community were trained during the event. The <br />Student Body Officers are Travis Dove, President; Candice Page, Vice <br />President; Kristen Lilly, Secretary; and George Wood, Treasurer. Their <br />advisor is Mr. Sanchez Johnson. <br /> <br /> On behalf of the Board, Vice Chair Carpenter presented a Resolution of <br />Appreciation and individual Certificates of Commendation to Mr. Dove, Miss <br />Page, Miss Lilly and Mr. Wood. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Vice Chair Carpenter, seconded by Chairman Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 2000-14 <br /> RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION <br />ADULT CPRMASS TRAINING SESSION AT <br /> NORTHWEST CABARRUS HIGH SCHOOL <br /> April 6, 2000 <br /> <br /> WHEREA~, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving procedure <br />that doubles a person's chance of survival when suffering cardiac arrest; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Northwest Cabarrus High School Student Council, <br /> recognizing the importance of CPR training for students as well as the entire <br /> community, organized an effort to break the current Guinness World Records <br /> for the nu~tber of individuals simultaneously trained in Adult CPR at one <br /> location; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Student Council, in coordination with the Cabarrus County <br />Chapter of the American Red Cross, successfully planned, organized and hosted <br />the record breaking event on April 6, providing free Adult CPR training to <br />over 1,420 students, teachers and me,ers of the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, special commendation is due the Student Body Officers - Travis <br />Dove, President; Candice Page, Vice President; Kristen Lilly, Secretary; and <br />George Wood, Treasurer - for their initiative, leadership and outstanding <br />display of team work in organizing the successful CPR training project. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners salutes the Northwest High School Student Body Officers for <br />their leadership and initiative in organizing the free Adult CPR mass <br />training project on April 6, 2000 and extends appreciation to the student <br />body officers as well as to all students, teachers and other individuals who <br />assisted with and/or participated in the CPR mass training session, making <br />our community a safer place to live and work. <br /> <br />This the 17=~ day of April 2000. <br />/s/ Arne L.
