<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following
<br />Proclamation.
<br /> PROCLAMATION
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services personnel provide essential
<br />lifesaving medical care to the citizens of Cabarrus County in need 24 hours a
<br />day, seven days a week~ and
<br /> WHEREAS, several hundred paramedics, emergency medical technicians,
<br />firefighters, first responders, emergency room physicians and nurses are
<br />involved in providing emergency care around the clock; and
<br /> WHEREAS, a large number of these individuals unselfishly volunteer
<br />their time to provide this valuable service; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether
<br />career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and
<br />continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and
<br /> WHEREA~, recognition is due all of these individuals to show
<br />appreciation for the value and the accomplishments of all of these
<br />individuals who serve on behalf of all Cabarrus County residents.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Cabarrus County Board of
<br />Commissioners, hereby proclaim the week of May 14 - 20, 2000, as
<br /> CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK

<br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation.

<br />CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH
<br /> IN CARARRUS COUNTY
<br /> A PROCLi~ATION
<br />
<br /> WHERE,, the welfare of our children is the most important
<br />responsibility we have as parents. A child should be able to depend on
<br />support from both parents; and
<br /> WHEREAS, children who do not receive adequate financial and emotional
<br />support from both parents may experience greater difficulty in becoming
<br />healthy, happy, and productive citizens of this County. In such cases, the
<br />taxpayers of this County support the children whose parents fail to meet this
<br />responsibility; and
<br /> WHERF2%S, many concerned and dedicated judges, district attorneys,
<br />clerks of court, sheriffs' personnel, and child support professionals work to
<br />provide this service to Cabarrus County's children . . . our future;
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of
<br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim the month of April, 2000 as
<br /> CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MOITTH IN CABARRUS COUITPY
<br />and urges all parents who are currently under court order to regularly pay
<br />their child support.
