<br /> Mr. J. K. Wilson, III, P.E., District Engineer with the North Carolina
<br />Department of Transportation, presented the proposed 2000-2001 Se.condary Road
<br />Construction Program for Cabarrus county. The Public Notice of the scheduled
<br />presentation was published by the Department of Transportation in TEE
<br />INDRPENDENT TRIBU~NE on May 6 and 13, 2000. He also reviewed the role of
<br />county commissioners and the State Board of Transportation in establishin9
<br />secondary road programs for counties. Mr. Wilson responded to questions about
<br />the paving of Edgefield Road, which the Board had asked to be removed from
<br />the 1998 program in response to a request by a majority of the Edgefield Road
<br />residents. According to Mr. Wilson, the Transportation Board voted to pave
<br />Ed~efield Road since the State already had the necessary right of way.
