Section 5
Solid Waste Management Methods

Intended Actions: An undetermined amount of waste will continue to be
transferred outside of the County for disposal.

5.9 Disposal of Solid Waste
Current Program: Currently the County has a permitted C&D Landfill area of
approximately 14 acres at its closed sanitary landfill. This area accepts both C&D and
land clearing and inert debris at a tipping fee of $20 per ton. The C&D facility had
approximately 10 years of capacity remaining as of March 1, 2000.

Intended Actions: The County ceased using the landfill for municipal solid waste
disposal after its closure in December, 1997, although it currently receives and will
continue to accept C&D waste. The residential waste from the County,
unincorporated areas, and municipalities of Kannapolis, Harrisburg, and Mount
Pleasant is intended to continue to be disposed of at the LMS landfill.

AX
