Fennel, Chairman <br /> Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Presentation of the Award of Financial ReDortina Achievement to Pam Dubois. <br />Assistant Finance Dirg~r <br /> <br /> Mr. Blair Bennett, Deputy County Manager for Administration, reported <br />the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and <br />Canada has awarded Cabarrus County the Certificate of Achievement for <br />Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial <br />report (CAFR). He stated this was the 15=h consecutive year that Cabarrus <br />County has received the award. Mr. Bennett recognized Ms. Pam Dubois, <br />Assistant Finance Director, who was designated as the individual primarily <br />responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. <br /> <br /> On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Privette presented the Certificate <br />of Achievement to Ms. Duboie. <br /> <br />Presentation of the Distin~ulahed Budoet Presentation Award to Cathie Keller <br />Straub. Budoe~ Offi99r <br /> <br /> Mr. Bennett reported that the Government Finance Officers Association <br />(GFOA) has awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for Fiscal <br />Year 2000 to Cabarrus County. This was the second year that Cabarrus County <br />has received the Award. Along with the Award to the County, GFOA had awarded <br />a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation to Ms. Cathie K. Straub, <br />Budget Officer. <br /> <br /> On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Privette presented the Budget <br />Award to MS. Straub. <br /> <br />Proclamation - 50=a Anniversary of the Korean War <br /> <br /> UPON KOTiON of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following <br />Proclamation. <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many brave men and women of Cabarrus County made tremendous <br />sacrifices to help save the world from tyranny and aggression by serving in <br />the Armed Forces during the Korean War; and <br /> WHEREAS, the bells of freedom and the winds of democracy sweeping the <br />globe today spring from the principles of thousands of Americans who gave <br />their lives in Korea; and <br /> WHEREAS, from this date through 2000, m~ny millions of American <br />veterans of the Korean War will be holding reunions and conferences <br />commemorating the 50t~ ANNIVERSARY of many events relating to the Korean War; <br />and <br /> WHERF~S, June 25, 2000, marks the 50~h Anniversaz~ of the Korean War. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners do hereby proclaim Sunday, June 25, 2000, as the <br /> 50~n A~NIVERSARy OF THE KORE~/q WAR <br />and call upon our citizens to offer special recognition during this time to <br />those who made the extreme sacrifice, were disabled in our nation's service, <br />or who served on active military duty in Korea; and especially remembering <br />that June 6-25, 2000, is the 50=n ~niversary of the Korean War. <br /> <br />This the 19=~ day of June, 2000. <br />/s/ Arne L.
