construction of a new branch to be located as stated In Item 1. If the <br />property Is ever offered for sale by the COUNTY, the CITY will have first <br />dght of refusal. <br /> <br />Any savings realized by the CITY resulting from the merger of the Charles <br />A. Cannon Memorial Library into the COUNTY library system will be <br />discretionary funds for the CITY to be used for any projects as designated <br />by the Concord City Council. <br /> <br />That in assuming ownership of the building, the COUNTY requests that <br />the following projects be funded by the CiTY with funds as deemed <br />appropriate: <br /> <br />Expansion of the Local History Room by removing walls to an <br />adjacent work area. Work Includes removal of two existing walls, <br />elimination of two existing door ways, repair of ceiling tile grid and <br />replacement of ceiling tiles as necessary; addition of power outlets <br />to supply adequate power to vadous machinery; modification to <br />mechanical systems as necessary; recarpeting and repainting of <br />Local History Room including expanded area. <br /> <br />bo <br /> <br />Recarpeting of specific areas of the Library including the <br />auditorium, lounge, rear hallway on the second floor, the technical <br />services work area, the conference room, and the LibraryDirector's <br />office. <br /> <br />Co <br /> <br />Repainflng the following areas: Auditorium, branch services work <br />area and specific areas of the Children's Room. <br /> <br />Replacement of specific Items of furniture: Including four ben&hes <br />in the second floor gallery area; sofa and two chairs in the <br />Director's oft'ice. PurChase 30 side chairs to replace worn out side <br />chairs in public service areas and 130 chairs to replace seating in <br />the auditorium. <br /> <br />Installation of a computer system In the Library to support library <br />computer operations including access to library cataloging, <br />circulation and collection access software; install high-speed <br />communication links from this system to all library branches; install <br />communications equipment at all branches to allow optimum use of <br />both the software and communications links; provide equipment <br />and software to provide economical, system-wide public Intemet <br />access; create a library home page to provide information about the <br />Library and Library services through the Internet. All systems <br />should be expandable to support current and future branches. <br /> <br />f. Make changes to the Ubrary parking lot as shown on Attachment A. <br /> <br />go <br /> <br />Install a gas-fired boiler to provide adequate heating for Library <br />HVAC system. <br /> <br />That upon consolidation, the COUNTY will become the primary funding <br />agent for all units of the Library system including the Charles A. Cannon <br />Memorial Library in Concord. The COUNTY will fund the personnel and <br />operational budget as approved by the Concord City Council for the fiscal <br />year in which consolidation occurs excluding Item 6 listed above. Capital <br />projects recommended to and approved by the CITY shall be reviewed by <br />the COUNTY prior to consolidation. Capital projects that are critical to the <br />delivery of library services should strongly be considered for approval, but <br />may be modified based upon the considerations unique to the COUNTY. <br />All funds returned to the COUNTY through State Aid will be routed to the <br />COUNTY Finance Department. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
