<br />CABARRUS COUNTY REGARDING PROCEDURES FOR REVIEWING AND
<br />AMF~IDING THE UNIIrIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE

<br />Whereas, Cabarrus Cotmty, the City of Concord, the City of Kannapoli$, the Town of
<br />Harrisburg, and the Town of Mount Pleasan~, are experiencing rapid ~'owth as part of thc
<br />Charlotte metropolitan rel~ion; and
<br />
<br />Where~ the eleaed offldals of Cabarma County, the City of Concord, the City of
<br />Kann~polis, the Town of Harrlsburlt and the Town of Mount Pleassnt reco/nized the
<br />need for au up-to.date, standardized and consistent code of land development rc~lalicns.
<br />for usc in man~in~ i~wth throu~out the local government jurisdictions; and
<br />
<br />Whereas, the prof~,~slonal sta~ of Caham~ County, the City of Concord, the City of
<br />Kannapolis, the Town of Harrisburg and the Town of Mount Pleasant have cooperatively
<br />prepared a Unified Development Ordinan~ to serve as that land development code; and
<br />
<br />Where, as, the elected officials of Cabarrus County, the City of Concord, the.City of
<br />Kaonapolis, the Town of Herrlsbu~ and the Town of Mount Pleasant appointed a
<br />Steerin$ Committee to work with the professional staffs and oversee thc preparation of
<br />the Unified Development Ordinance and mak: recommendations to the plannin//boards
<br />and the elected officials; and
<br />
<br />Whites, citizens and representatives of the building ~ development industry of
<br />Cabaml, County, the City of Concord, the City of Kannalmlis, the Town of Herrisburg
<br />and the Town of Mount Pleasant have panicipa~:l with thc staffs and the Ste~ming
<br />Committee in the preparation of the Unifi~ Dcvdopm~nt Oalinance; and

<br />Whm~as, it is ~ecoi/nized by all those who have participated in the preparation of the
<br />Unified Developrnant Ordinance that there is a need to ih~vide/'or coordinated and
<br />coopelati~,'e evalualion and amendment ~fl~r its adoption and the Steering Committee
<br />recommends such to the elected offidals of Cabanus County, the City of Concord, the
<br />City o~'Kannapolis, thc Town o.f Har~i. shut/end the Town of Mount Plca~anto
