Little, Director
Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department

RE:

1999-2000 Annual Report

On behalf of the Cabarrus County Parks, Recreation and Property Maintenance
Department, I would like to present the Annual Report for Fiscal Year 1999-2000.

The Annual Report highlights the parks and recreation programs offered to all
residents of Cabarrus County and the implementation of new parks/recreation
improvements. The Department was reorganized to concentrate on building new
parks and recreational facilities by shifting instructional classes/special
population programs to other agencies. Four (4) new tennis courts were
completed at each of the parks at Central Cabarrus High School and Mount
Pleasant Middle School. General construction continues on two park sites and
four school/park sites. Matching Incentive Grant projects totaled $200,000; and
$30,000 was received from North Carolina Department of Transportation Bicycle
and Pedestrian Division to create a countywide map/signage system of bicycle
routes. Also this year, parks and recreation offices relocated from Cabarrus
Governmental Center to 2323 Concord Lake Road.

We appreciate the support and assistance given the department by the Cabarrus
County Board of Commissioners, Cabarrus County Manager, Deputy Manager,
Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission and the public in general.
