The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus held a recessed <br />meeting in the Multipurpose Room at the Cabarrus County Governmental Center <br />in Concord, North Carolina On Friday, September 29, 2000, at 7:00 a.m. <br /> <br />Present - Chairman: Arne L. Fennel <br /> Vice Chairman: Carolyn B. Carpenter <br /> <br />~sent - Commissioners: Jeffrey L. Bar,.hart Sue B. Casper <br /> Coy C. Privette <br /> <br /> Also present were Mr. Prank W. Clifton, Jr., County Manager; Mr. <br />Fletcher L. Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney; and Mrs. Frankie F. Bonds, Clerk <br />to the Board. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel reconvened the meeting of Septet%bet 18, 2000 at 7:10 <br />a.m. He welcomed members of the Board of Directors for the Cabarrus County <br />Agricultural Fair, Inc., representatives from the Cabarrus County Schools and <br />other individuals to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. Michael Jenkins, President of Leisure and Recreation Concepts <br />(~%RC), and Mr. Ron Shook, Vice President for Planning with LAA~C, presented <br />an overview of the Master Plan concept for the development of the County <br />Exposition Center property on Highway 49 and Old Airport Road. They reviewed <br />the proposed location for the fairground facilities, school administrative/ <br />maintenance complex, school bus garage, a special events/multi-use center, <br />nature trails, walking trails, camping area, picnic area and a possible <br />nature Center or a water park. <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton reviewed cost estimates concerning the development of the <br />property. The estimated total cost for developing the entire 100 acresj <br />excluding property cost, is approximately $35 million. <br /> <br />There was general discussion regarding the proposed Master Plan. <br /> <br /> At 8:10 a.m., Chairman Fennel recessed the meeting until 6:30 p.m. on <br />Monday, October 2, 2000, in the Multipurpose Room at the Governmental Center. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
