CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Meeting Date: 11-20-00 <br /> <br />Agenda Item <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Update and submittal of the County's Work First Block Grant Plan <br /> <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br /> <br />1. Approve the proposed Cabarrus County Work First Block Grant Plan for FY's <br /> 2001-03..(The Chairman would need to sign the certification on page 24, and <br /> have the Plan forwarded to the Director of the North Carolina Division of Social <br /> Services prior to the December 1, 2000 deadline.) ~ <br />2. Express appreciation to the citizens from across the community it appointed to <br /> the planning committee for the excellent work which they did in preparing the <br /> proposed plan update. <br />3. Reaffirm its request that Senator Hartsell pursue authorization in the upcoming <br /> session of the' General Assembly for an extension of the Work Over Welfare <br /> demonstration program for two years beyond the current expiration date of <br /> June 30, 2001, and for a modification of the program so that it will be consistent <br /> with the major policy features of the County's Work First Block Grant Plan for <br /> this period. <br /> <br />Attachments X Yes No <br /> <br />Expected length of Presentation None* <br /> <br />Jim Cook and James Polk will be available to provide a brief explanation and/or to respond <br />to questions, if needed. <br /> <br />Has this been reviewed by the Budget Director?
