The proposed Stonegate Subdivision is located in the A. T. Allen
Elementary School attendance area. This school £s expected to exceed
capacity during uhe 1999-2000 school year. Alee, the Board has redistr£cted
the middle and high gchool students in this area to
effective with the.1999-2000 school year. While this will help with the
current overcrowding at J. N. Fries and Central Cabarrus, it will also bring
enrollment at Hr. Pleasant M~/HS to capacity.

The com~letion of the eastside elementary school in August, i999 will
give much needed additional capacity on the eastern side of the uounty.
However, l= doei not relieve A. T. Allen enough to accommodate the
additional growth exacted ~rom the 105 lots proposed in the Stonegate

The school system will need additional elementary and middle school
classrooms on the ~eet side of the county. Hopefully, plans can be
formulated to achieve these needs ~ricr to a~roval o£ additional
subdivisions. If additional growth is permitted in Cabarrus County, we must
have adequate school fa¢il£ties. We do not believe parents and students
desire to be faced with continual redistricting, capping, multi-track year
round or split shift schedules, cabarrus County must either restrict or
control growth or make a commitment to build new schools.

Again, thank you for providing us the oppo~unity to respond to
Wallace Farm an~ St~negate ~ro~oeale.

Trans~o=tation Director

RCK

CC *

Harold Wlnkler
Jessie Blackwelder
Leonard campbell
