The proposed Stonega=e Subdivision is located ~n the A. T. Allen
Elementary School attendance area. This school is expected to exceed
capacity during =he 199g-1000 school year. Also, the Board has redis~r£cted
the middle a~d high school students in this area to Mt. Pleasant HS/HS
effective with the 1~99-2000 school y~sr.~ While.this will help with the
current overcrowding at J. N. Fries and Central cabarrus, it w£11 also bring
enrollment at ~c. Pleasant MS/HS to capacity.

The completion o~ the eastside elementary school in August, 1999 wii1
give much needed additional cap&city on the eastern s~de of the uounty.
However, LC does nos relieve A. T. Allen enough to accommodate the
additional growth expected from the 105 lots proposed in the Stonegate
Subdivision.

The school system will need additional elementary and middle school
classrooms on the west side of the county. Hopefully, p~ans ca~ be
formulated to achieve these needs prior to &~rovaL of additional
subdivisions. If additional growth is permitted in Cabsrrus County, we must
have adequate school facilities. We do not believe parents amid students
desire to be faced with continual redistricting, capping, multi-track year
round or split shift schedules, c~arrus County must either restrict or
control growth or make a commitment to build new schools.

Again, thank you for providing us the oppo~unity to respond to the
WalLace Far~ and Stonegate proposals.

S~ely,

Robert C. Klqtt~ ~
Transportation Director

ROK

Dc. Harold Winkler
Hrs. Jessie Blackwelder
Mr. Leonard campbell
