County Managers <br />Page 2 <br />January 6, 1999 <br /> <br />Last year more than 17 million dollars were provided to local counties for community-based <br />alternative (CBA) programs that were endorsed by county commissioners. As a result of the <br />1998 legislation, additional funds have been alloeated to be distributed to local counties for <br />programs that meet county needs for delinquent youth. At this time, an additional $3,688,548 in <br />formula money is being made available to all counties. <br /> <br />This money is non-reverting and counties may expend funds fi:om these grants through June 30, <br />2000. The announcement and certification form for FY 1998 fommla grants is attached. In <br />addition, a discretionary fund is being established and information on this fund will be <br />forthcoming in the near future. <br /> <br />Applications for new formula funds will be similar to applications that were previously <br />submitted for community-based alternatives and will be available in the Office of Juvenile <br />Justice regional CBA offices.
