Little, Director <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />Proposed Lease Agreement between Cabarrus County and Church of God <br />Children's Home <br /> <br />As stated in the approved agreement relating to the proposed park on Orphanage Road, <br />dated October 19, 1998 between Cabarrus County and the City of Kannapolis, Cabarrus <br />County shall make good faith efforts to seek out and acquire additional property <br />adjoining to park, by purchase, lease or otherwise, which property, upon acquisition, shall <br />become part of the park. <br /> <br />Attached is a proposed lease agreement between Cabarrus County and the Church of God <br />Children's Home of North Carolina. The Church of God Children's Home is the owner <br />of two tracts of property totaling approximately 44 acres on the southside of Orphanage <br />Road. This proposed lease from the Church of God Children's Home for 44 acres (light <br />blue/green color on attached map) and the adjoining leased land from the City of <br />Kannapolis for 45 acres (dark green color on attached map) combines for a total park site <br />of 89 acres. <br /> <br />On November 19th and December 1st, Cabarrus County officials and Church of God <br />Children's Home leaders formally reviewed the proposed joint park site. With <br />collaborative effects by the Church of God Children's Home and Cabarrus County a <br />proposed lease agreement was composed for this joint park project. The following are <br />major points of the lease agreement: <br /> <br />Twenty year lease agreement to Cabarrus County for 44 acres. <br />Cabarrus County has an option of negotiating an extension of a minimum of up to <br />twenty (20) years to the terms of the lease. <br /> <br /> <br />
