Aftercare

By the time the IOPT client has reached Aftercare, they should be fully engaged
in the treatment and recovery process. Therefore, Aftercare wilt consist primarily of
group therapy that addresses problems and issues identified by the client, counselor, and
court representatives. Completion of steps four and five of the 12 Step program will also
occur in this group. This group will meet for one session per week and will last one and a
half- hour (1 1/2). Clients will remain in Aftercare for a period of no less than 28 weeks.
They may continue to attend for up to one year following graduation. The clients will be
required to attend five AA/NA meetings per week.
In order to complete Aftercare and graduate from the program, the client must
have 150 days of abstinence, regular attendance at AA/NA meetings for 150 days, and
full completion of treatment goals. The client must have completed steps four and five in
order to graduate from the program. The client will receive a minimum of 28 hours of
additional contact. The client will be encouraged to continue aftercare attendance after
graduation. Individual counseling sessions will be available as requested or as required
by the treatment program. Significant others will also be involved in the counseling
sessions as indicated. SAIL recognizes that addiction is a family disease and that ali
members of the family need to be encouraged to be actively involved in the recovery
process.

Inpatient Treatment/Detoxification

SAIL is an outpatient treatment program and therefore does not have inpatient
treatment available within the agency. However, this will not hinder SAIl, from
providing the necessary resources for clients. If at any time clients are in need of inpatient
treatment they will be referred to an appropriate resource depending on bed availability
and the individual client's financial situation.
For clients with private medical coverage for substance abuse treatment, the
possible referrals will include, but not be limited to: Amethyst of Charlotte; Charter Pines
of Charlotte (Jean Powell or Needs Assessment Department 704-365-4368); First Step of
Union Regional Medical Center (Judy Goodwin 1-800-446-6774); Lancaster RecoverY
Center (Mona James 803-286-149 I); Life Works of Rowan Regional Medical Center
(Beverly Nelson 704o638-1308 or Vivian Norman 704-638-1306); McLeod Addictive
Disease Center of'Charlotte (Angie McCray or Patty Lyles 332-9001); and Mercy
Horizons of Charlotte (Detoxification only) (Mary Behan 704-379-5248).
For clients with Medicare/Medicaid, the possible referrals will include, but not be
limited to: Amethyst of Scotland Memorial Hospital (Jeri Doster or Thomas Bryant 800-
388-7661; Lancaster Recovery Center (Mona James 803-286-1491); Life Works of
Rowan Regional Medical Center (Beverly Nelson 704-638-1308 or Vivian Norman 704-
638-1306; and Mercy Horizons of Charlotte (Medical detoxification only) (Mary Behan
704-379-5248). Other resources will be considered, as they become available.
For clients without medical coverage, the possible referrals will include, but not
be limited to Black Mountain and Mercy Horizons for detoxification only, The DART
program and other state- administered substance abuse treatment programs will also be
used, as beds are available.
