Little, Director <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />Joint Partnership Proposal of School/Park Improvements to Concord <br />Middle and Eastside School/Park Sites. <br /> <br />This proposal is a request for joint funding with the City of Concord for Turf <br />Improvements to five athletic fields at the new Concord Middle and Eastside Elementary <br />School/Park sites. This request is for fifty percent (50%) funds for planting Bermuda <br />turf sprigs, and for irrig.ation systems and signage for these facilities. The proper time to <br />plant Bermuda sprigs on athletic fields is May to June (annually). The following is a <br />summary of the proposal: <br /> <br />(1) Install Irrigation water lines to fields $10,000 <br />(2) Install Irrigation systems to five fields 50,000 <br />(3) Bermuda sprigs for five fields 25,500 <br />(4) Signage 3,000 <br /> $88,500 <br /> <br />This proposal to the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners is for matching funds <br />(50%) or $44,250.00. <br /> <br />On March 5, 1999, Cabarrus County and City of Concord officials met to discuss <br />potential joint partnership of new athletic facility improvements to Concord Middle and <br />Eastside School/Park sites. In attendance were C.D. Lyons, Tim Lowder and Brian Hiatt <br />from the City of Concord and Frank Clifton, John Day and me from Cabarrus County. <br />The proposal is to City of Concord and Cabarrus County governmental units to jointly <br />share in the construction costs of these two proposed school/park sites. The proposed <br />facilities are three baseball/softball and two soccer/football fields. The City of Concord <br />and Cabarrus County is in the process of submitting this proposal to the governmental <br />bodies in April for their approval. <br /> <br /> <br />
