PROGRAM NARRATIVE <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Briefly describe what the program expects to achieve and why. At a minimum, the narrative should include the following information: <br />(1) Identify the staff and their responsibilities to the program, <br />(2) describe the physical facilities in which the services will be delivered, (3) discuss any areas of concern that could affect the <br />success of the program {4} discuss why these resources used in the manner described should be expected to alter inappropriate <br />behavior. (5} describe the referral, screening and admission procedures, (6) describe the means of worMng with youth and families, <br />(7) describe the daily program activities and, (8.) describe the termination procedures. <br /> <br />1. Program Staff include: <br /> A. Cabarrus County Center Director, Charles Hill, M.Ed. Supervises overall <br /> process and implementation of program. <br /> B. Vincent L. Pastore, Ph.D., Cabarrus County Child and Youth Program <br /> Coordinator. Provides day to day supervision of the program and <br /> clinical supervision to Rick Helms and the child and adolescent <br /> substance abuse and mental health staff. <br /> C. Rick Helms, MA Provides on-site direct services including psychological <br /> assessments and evaluations; individual, group, and family therapy; <br /> consultation to court counselors; coordination of referrals for <br /> substance abuse assessment and treatment and appropriate groups <br /> conducted at Cabarrus Behavioral Healthcare. <br /> D. Betsy Karas, MHDL, LPC. Conducts therapy groups and individual and <br /> family therapy for referred clients at Cabarrus Behavioral Healthcare. <br /> E. Leah Friday, MSW. Conducts therapy groups and individual and family <br /> therapy for referred clients at Cabarrus Behavioral Healthcare. <br /> F. Suzanne Jones, MA, LPC. Conducts therapy groups and individual and <br /> family therapy for referred clients at Cabarrus Behavioral Healthcare. <br /> G. Mona Sossamon, CAC. Provides substance abuse assessment and treatment. <br /> H. Tracy Sherrill, BS Provides substance abuse assessment and treatment. <br /> I. Philip Nofal, M.D., Child Psychiatrist. Provides psychiatric evaluation <br /> and medication monitoring when needed. <br /> <br />2. Physical Facilities: <br /> A. Cabarrus County Courthouse office - site of direct psychological <br /> services provider. Used for evaluations, individual, group, and f~mily <br /> therapy and consultation with other agency personnel. <br /> B. Cabarrus Family Recovery Center. Offices of substance abuse counselors <br /> and site of individual group and fam/ly counseling for referred CBA <br /> clients. <br /> C. Cabarrus Behavioral Healthcare. Offices of mental health therapists and <br /> administrative personnel. Site of individual, group, family counseling, <br /> and psychiatric services. <br /> <br />3. Areas of concern that may affect success: <br /> Youth who are under the supervision of the Juvenile Court have a long <br /> history of problematic behavior and may have a long history of substance <br /> abuse. In addition, many of the families have developed dysfunctional <br /> patterns of interaction, which have exacerbated the inappropriate behavior <br /> exhibited by the youth.
