infomtation, and public meetings. Sixty-five letters were sent to organizations requesting <br />public input. Staff recommendations were also requested. Over 116 recommendations for <br />this park site were received by April 29th. <br />From May 15 through June 30, the three recommended conceptual plans were publicly <br />advertised for general public input by the following means: Channel 25 Cable Television, <br />Cabarrus County web site, Cabarrus County Governmental Center, Independent Tribune and <br />the Charlotte Observer newspapers, Kannapolis Vision Center, Cannon Memorial Libraries- <br />Concord and Kannapolis branches. Over 139 recommendations were received concerning <br />these three conceptual designs. <br />On May 27, 1999, the three conceptual park designs were discussed and input solicited from <br />the general public during a thirty-minute panel interview on Channel 25 Government <br />Channel and rebroadcast for the following two weeks. Bob Misenheimer, James Griffin and <br />Steve Little participated during this panel interview. <br />On June 8, 1999, a formal public workshop was hosted by the North Cabarrus Steering <br />Committee at the Church of God Children's Home to gather input and recommendations. <br />Twenty-six people attended this workshop. <br />Input/recommendations were also received from the following groups/organizations: <br />- Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission <br />- City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission <br />- Concord Tennis Association <br />- WinecoffAthletic Youth League <br />- Odell Athletic Association <br />- Northwest Cabarrus Baseball Association <br />- Cabarrus Regional Chamber <br />- Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District <br />- Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau <br />- Kannapolis Vision Center Play Theme Group <br />- Cannon MemorialYMCA <br />- David Murdock Senior Center <br />- National Heritage Committee <br />- Northwest Cabarrus High School <br /> <br /> On July 22 and 29, 1999, the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission and City <br />of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission reviewed and recommended the <br />concept plan as presented by the North Cabarrus Steering Committee, and also recommended the <br />same list of priorities the Steering Committee recommended. The first phase recommended is <br />the entrance drive and picnic areas as described as Number 1 in the concept plan and the <br />probable construction cost summary.
