A social worker from Employment Services will attend court, to receive direct <br />referrals from the child support agents, to begin assessments on non- <br />custodial parents who might benefit from working with a social worker and <br />having services provided to help seek and retain employment. This focus <br />~ directly impact t{meliness in assisting with employment of the non- <br />custodial parent, enabling her/him to more quickly meet their child support <br />obligation. <br /> <br />TIME FRAME FOR IMPLEMENTATION: <br /> <br />Cabarrus County will resume working with non-custodial parents in January, <br />2000. <br /> <br />RESOURCES PRIORITIZED TO ASSURE ALL WORK FIRST FAMILIES PARENTS <br />SUBJECT TO WORK REQUIREMENTS ARE BEING SERVED: <br /> <br />All Work First parents who are subject to the work requirement are currently <br />and will continually be served beginning on the day of application. The l~t Stop <br />assessment and drug abuse screening are completed by social workers on the <br />day of application, or within the ten day requirement for l~t Stop. A service <br />assessment is also begun on the date of application. The MRA is also <br />completed at this time. In addition, services are provided from the date of <br />application, including transportation, day care assistance {if qualified), and the <br />opportunity to meet with an ESC (Employment Security Commission) <br />interviewer to begin job search. <br /> <br />II. Services For Families With Children <br /> <br />The county will provide services to families with children when the family <br />income is at or below 200% of poverty and in accordance with the policy <br />outlined in Work First policy. <br /> <br />X Yes <br /> No <br /> <br />COUNTY PLAN FOR PROVIDING SERVICES: <br /> <br /> Beginning November 1, 1999, the focus of public assistance will change <br />in Cabarrus County. We will begin completing a full family assessment on any <br />family coming into the agency seeking cash assistance or services. By <br />considering families at or below the 200% poverty level, services will be provided <br />to enable the population to become and remain employed. Cabarrus CoUnty <br />will focus on services contributing to self-sufficiency. Social workers will be <br />evaluating the needs of the family and dete~-,ine appropriate services to be <br />offered. All families will have the opportunity to apply for medical assistance <br />through Medicaid or NC Health Choice, and families will have the opportunity <br />for food assistance. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
