The <br />nomination was seconded by Commissioner Carpenter. <br /> <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Barnhart and seconded by Commissioner <br />Mills that nominations be closed and Commissioner Casper be elected Chairman by <br />acclamation. Mr. Clifton <br />declared Commissioner Carpenter as Vice-Chairman. <br /> <br />Mr. Clifton turned the meeting over to Chairman Casper. <br /> <br />RECOGNITIONS AND AWARDS <br /> <br />Recognition of Vulcan Materials Company <br /> <br /> Mr. Steve Little, Parks and Recreation Director, introduced Mr. David Ford <br />and Mr. Marry Campbell of Vulcan Materials Company. <br /> <br /> On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Carpenter presented the following <br />Resolution to Mr. Ford and Mr. Campbell. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 1997-36 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> HONORING <br />VULCAN MATERIALS COMPANY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials Company has been and continues to be <br />an outstanding corporate citizen of Cabarrus County: and <br /> <br /> %~HEREAS, Vulcan Materials Company has continuously sought to <br />improve the quality of life for the citizens of Cabarrus County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners has <br />committed to providing park facilities and a diverse range of <br />recreational activities for all residents of C&barrus County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials Company has provided significant <br />contributions and support to W. W. Flowe Park and Frank Liske Park <br />in the form of crushed stone and dry screening materials for a <br />variety of public facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County has named a picnic shelter and the <br />perimeter trail for Vulcan Materials Company in recognition of their <br />support to Frank Liske Park and the citizens of Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners salutes Vulcan Materials Company for its visionary <br />community activism evident through this cooperative public-private <br />partnership in support of the public parks and recreation <br />opportunities; and <br /> <br /> <br />
