Government <br />Services Representative Linda Ashendorf has agreed to an extension of <br />the current residential solid waste collection franchise issued to BFI <br />Waste Systems of North America, Inc. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the <br />County of Cabarrus that, effective immediately, the current residential <br />solid waste collection franchise issued to BFI Waste Systems of North <br />America, Inc. is hereby extended through January 31, 1998. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 15th day of December, 1997. <br /> <br /> /s/ Sue B. Bonds, Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />Approval of the Urgent Repair Pro,ram A~reement between the North Carolina <br />Housing Finance A~ency and the Cabarrus County Department of Alin~ <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Mills and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the North Carolina Housing Trust Fund <br />Urgent Repair Program Funding Agreement (Funding Agreement Number: URP9721) <br />between the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency and the Cabarrus County <br />Department of Aging. The Program Grant was $30,000.00 and required no local <br />match. The Agreement as approved by the Board is on file in the County <br />Manager's Office and hereby included by reference as a part of the minutes. <br /> <br />Resolution for the Centralina Council of Governments {COG) to Receive State Funds <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Mills and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br /> Resolurion No. 1997~37 <br /> RESOLUTION BY <br />CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lead Regional Organizations have established <br />productive voluntary working relationships with municipalities and <br />counties across North Carolina; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1997 General Assembly recognized this need <br />through the appropriation of $864,270 for each year of the biennium <br />to help the Lead Regional Organizations assist local governments <br />with grant applications, economic development, community <br />development, and to support local industrial development activities <br />and other activities as deemed appropriate by their local <br />governments; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these funds are not intended to be used for payment <br />of member dues or assessments to a Lead Regional Organization or to <br />supplant funds appropriated by the member governments; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the event that a request is not made by Cabarrus <br />County for release of these funds to the Lead Regional Council, the <br />available funds will revert to the State's general fund; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in Region F, funds in the amount of $48,015 will be <br />used to/for preparation of HOME and CDBG applications, regional data <br />center, regional building permit tracking system, and other economic <br />development activities that may deem appropriate; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners requests the release of its share of these funds, <br />$~,872.70, to Centralina Council of Governments at the earliest <br />possible time in accordance with the provisions of state laws. <br /> <br />Witnessed this the 15th day of December, 1997. <br /> <br />/s/ Sue B.
