Special Events held include ChristmasTown Express, CT Communications <br />Spring Dash, and Unbollweevilible 5K Home Run Road Races; WestemFest, <br />a sanctioned junior rodeo; and Holiday Highlight, the annual festival of <br />lights at Frank Liske Park. <br />Cabarrus Senior Games is a competitive athletic and artistic program <br />designed for adults 55 yeats of age and better. Developed statewide as a <br />health and wellness program, activities are held year-round and culminate <br />in the annual local games held in the spring. Events range from bowling, <br />bocce, swimming, tennis, golf and horseshoes to drawing and painting, <br />drama, and dance. <br /> <br />Cabarms Special Olympics is part of an international program designed to <br />serve individuals with mental retardation by providing athletic training and <br />competition. Teams practice and compete seasonally and include alpine <br />skiing, aquatics (competitive and "learn to swim"), bocce, track and field, <br />gymnastics, volleyball, and bowling. The local spring games are held <br />annually in April and include competition by over 300 athletes in track and <br />field and swimming. <br /> <br />Athletic Division <br /> <br />The Athletic Division operates programs for youth and adults consisting of <br />various league play; tournaments; special events; summer sport camps in <br />soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, football, wrestling and tennis; one- <br />day clinics; and youth coaches training. <br /> <br />The youth leagues are co-sponsored by Cabarrus County and Concord Parks <br />and Recreation Departments, Cannon Memorial YMCA, and nine youth <br />associations. League play for youth (ages 6-18) is offered in soccer, football, <br />basketball, baseball, slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball, and coach pitch.
