CarlSrnith <br /> <br />The Recreation Division is made up of the athletics, special populations <br />and special events, and special programs areas. Activities provided offer <br />participants an opportunity to develop interests in new directions and improve <br />skills in favorite pastimes. Involvement in these programs can help enrich <br />the quality of life through education, relaxation, and enjoyment. <br /> <br />Special Programs/Publicity and Marketing Division <br /> <br />This division is divided into two sections: The Classes and Workshops <br />section is responsible for researching programming needs; developing and <br />implementing a variety of recreational activities, such as instructional classes <br />and workshops; summer arts, magic and computer camps; and Sum-More <br />Fun Day Camp. The Division works in cooperation with the Cabarms County <br />and Kannapolis City School Systems, local churches and agencies to utilize <br />existing facilities and resources. <br /> <br />The Publicity and Marketing section works in conjunction with all divisions <br />of the Parks, Recreation and Property Maintenance Department in <br />development and implementation of promotions, advertisements and <br />marketing campaigns for all programs and policies. This seCtion is also <br />responsible for coordination with other local reCreation providers for the <br />development and distribution of a quarterly program brochure through the <br />Independent Tribune's Good Times. <br /> <br />Special Populations/Special Events Division <br /> <br />This division is responsible for programming the department's special events <br />such as holiday festivals, community events and annual athletic competitions; <br />serves as a liaison with other community agencies in developing recreational <br />opportunities for persons with special needs; and acts as local coordinator <br />for both Cabarms Senior Games and Cabarms Special Olympics. <br /> <br /> <br />
