Serve as volunteers in facility activities through church groups and community groups for sing-alongs, parties, <br /> storytelling groups, etc. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE STRENGTHS <br /> <br />1. Good working relationship with the staffand ~:acility administrators. <br /> <br />2. Strong commitment and dedication on the part of those active on the CACHCAC. <br /> <br />3. Good working relationship with regional Ombudsman. <br /> <br />4. Excellent rapport with residents and families during facility visits and follow up on concerns and issues. <br /> <br />5. Active in the community through other volunteer opportunities in churches and civic groups. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE CHALLENGES <br /> <br />1. Incomplete membership on the committee and the need for more members to be appointed promptly. <br /> <br />2. Lack of participation of some committee members due to lack of corrunitment, lack of interest or time, or lack of <br /> experience. <br /> <br />3. Losing experienced members who wish to remain on the committee longer than the designated time. <br /> <br />4. Staffing turnover m~d poody trained staff in facilities. <br /> <br />5. Limited public awareness of fl~e committee and their function. Public awareness and education regarding the <br /> Ombudsman program and how the volunteers fit in. <br /> <br />6. Part-time Ombudsman for nine of the twelve months of 1997. <br /> <br /> COMMITTEE SUPPORT <br /> <br /> Committee members are trained and supported by the Ombndsman program of the Centralina Council of Governments, <br />Area Agency on Aging, Region F. <br /> <br /> Local back-up support is provided by the Cabarrus County Senior Services Department.
