WAYNE BARRINGER, LIEUTENANT <br />CABARRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br /> <br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF RETIREMENT 4-30-98 <br /> <br />Wayne Barringer graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1965 and began his career with the <br />Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office on July 14, 1969. <br /> <br />He is married to Sue H. Barringer and they have two daughters, Myra and Patricia, and one son, <br />Jonathan. They also have one granddaughter. <br /> <br />Lieutenant Barringer began his service with the department as a patrol officer where he worked for 5 <br />years. He was promoted to Sergeant grade in 1974 and went to the Civil Division where he was <br />promoted to Lieutemnt in 1982. In 1991 he moved from head of the Civil Division to Lieutenant in <br />charge of departmental training and recruitment. <br /> <br />During his time with the department he has continued to upgrade his education by attaining his <br />Associates Degreye in P~)lice Science at Central Piedmcmt Community College in 1976. <br /> <br />He has also attained over [700 hours of spec;alized training in law enforcement related su~iects. <br /> <br />Through his efforts to better himself as a law enforcement officer he has been recognized by the State of <br />North Carolina by being awarded lhe Advanced Law Entbrcement Certificate. <br /> <br />Wayne was a contributing author of, "Sheriff's Handlx~ok on Civil Process" on thc topics of civil <br />execution.,,, tax warrants, claim and delivery, attachment and garnishment proceedings, sheriffs sales on <br />real property and personal property. He also assisted in revising the lesson plan for Basic Law <br />Enforcement Training for the State of Nc. rth Carolina on the topic of Civil Process. <br /> <br />Lieutenant Barringer developed the lesson plan and implemented training for the Cabarrus County <br />Sheriff's Department on the topics of Reactive Shooting vs. Precision Shooting, multiple target <br />engagement, techniques fl~r surviving a gunfight, combat shooting and animal control small caliber rifle <br />training and qualification. <br /> <br />Lieutenant Barringer holds certifications as a North Carolina Criminal Jnstice Commission General <br />Instructor and Specialized Firearms Instructor. He also holds certifications as a Basic Law Enforcement <br />Training School Director for Rowan Cabarrus Community College, officer survival training instructor, <br />and Detention Officer Instructor. <br /> <br />Wayne is the departments chief firearms instructor and is also a certified armorer with Smith & Wesson, <br />Glock Pistols, Sig Sauer Pistols, Colt AR-15 and M-16 rifles and M203 grenade launchers and Remin~on <br />870 shotguns. <br /> <br />P.O.
