Cabarrus C&D landfill & Recycling Center Job No. 98001 <br />Operations Plan 02/12/98 <br /> <br />of two existing C&D landfills located in Huntersville, North Carolina and Lancaster, South <br />Carolina. Mr. Ron Gilkerson will be Senior Site Geologist, and Mr. Roger Bames will be the <br />Operations Manager. Employee qualifications of the above staff members are included in <br />the appendix for reference. <br /> <br />'1.7 Sto~-.~water Collection and Removal <br /> <br />Stormwater runoff from the C&D landfill will be directed to the sediment basins: Perimeter <br />ditches located at the boundaries of the C&D area will help divert run-on from entering the <br />area. The ditches and sediment basins will be inspected on a regular basis, and any <br />necessary repairs will be made as early as practical. <br /> <br />1.8 Waste Placement <br /> <br />Waste placement will be in lifts of approximately 10 feet in vertical thickness. As mentioned <br />previously, each lift will begin at the upgradient end of each landfill phase and progress <br />towards the downgradient end. As higher elevations are reached, the waste may be placed <br />from downgradient to upgradient on the active face slope as long as landfill surfaces are <br />graded to allow proper drainage. Soil berms will be constructed as necessary to divert run- <br />on from entedng the working face or allowing runoff to drain from active areas. <br /> <br />Waste shall be compacted as densely as practical and placed on the smallest active face <br />as feasible. C&D waste shall be covered with a compacted layer of six inches of cover soil <br />at least on a ~,cckly basis or as specified by the Division of Waste Management. <br /> <br />Areas that will not have waste placed for 12 months or more shall be covered with a <br />minimum of one foot of inte~ediate cover and sccded with temporary seeding in <br />accordance with the attached seeding specifications. The seeding will be provided as <br /> <br /> <br />
