Mr. Frank Clifton, Jr. <br />May 4, 1998 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />The Workforce Development Board replaces separate governing boards for individual <br />federally funded programs. The Centralina WDB also makes decisions about the allocation <br />of funds, choice of service providers, monitoring activities, and coordination of various <br />local job training efforts (including JTPA) to further workforce preparedness in the <br />county. <br /> <br />The core functions of the Centralina WDB are policy guidance (strategic planning and <br />coordination) and program oversight (program planning, labor market information, career <br />center chartering, plan review, and evaluation/monitoring). <br /> <br />The Centralina WDB meeting is generally held the second Tuesday of the meeting month <br />at 4:30 PM at Centralina COG (1300 Baxter Street) in Charlotte. The Centralina Council <br />of Governments' Workforce Development Section serves as administrative staff to the <br />WDB. The Centralina Workforce Development Administrator is David Hollars. <br /> <br />C. Specific Requests <br /> <br />Please obtain nominations and appoint two (2) individuals to fill the terms of July 1, 1998 - <br />June 30, 2000. Nominations and appointments to fill the categories of Private Sector and <br />Organized Labor are requested. Mr. Whitley is eligible for reappointment as the Private <br />Sector representative. Mr. Sharp is eligible for reappointment as the Organized Labor <br />representative. Both individuals are excellent representatives of the county on the board. <br /> <br />If an individual does not wish to be reappointed to the WDB, please obtain necessary <br />nominations for appointments.
