I have also enclosed a buff-colored document entitled "Collection
Summary." This was based on the invoice summary provided to the
county by the HFIW contractor, EcoFlo. We are all to be
congratulated in that over 63,000 pounds of HHW have now been
removed from Cabarrus County, not to mention the 2 tons of scrap
tires, 234 lead acid batteries, and over 1,200 gallons of used
motor oil. Without analyzing each collected material item by
item, it is interesting to note that 89% of our total consisted
of paints and solvents. If you were able to join us for the
collection event, you are aware of the huge sums of paint
products that were brought in by the participants. Feel free to
use these results with any newsletter or clientele groups with
whom you work.

Please allow me to quote from a letter I sent to Mrs. Sue Casper,
Chair, Cabarrus Board of County Commissioners, dated May 13,
1998, "The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day was a very
positive effort from start to finish and left the participants
feeling very good about the role of County Government. Another
positive aspect of the event was the outstanding level of
cooperation not only between the various City and County
departments involved, but also among the municipalities which
were included in the planning and implementation of the event."
It was truly a pleasure to work with such an outstanding group of
community leaders.

Thank you again for the important role~wh~ch you played/~hd I
certainly look forward to working with you in the fdture.

CC:

Board of County Commissioners
Mr. Frank Clifton, Cabarrus County Manager
Mr. John Day, Deputy County Manager
Mr. Rick Payne, Co-Chair, Cabarrus HHW Collection Day
Mrs. Doris Y.
