Box 707 Concord, NC 28025 Dear Mr. Clifton: Please allow me to introduce mysel£ My name is Walter LeRoy, Executive Director of the Cabarrus Workshop Inc. in Concord. For the past two (2) years, I have served as the President of the Cabarrus County Transportation Advisory Board and worked very closely with Mike Byrd. At the June board meeting, we discussed the addition and retirement of several mini vans utilized by the transportation system in Cabarrus County. After the meeting, I asked Mr. Byrd about the status of the retired vans and expressed an interest in obtaining one for the Cabarrus Workshop. Mr. Byrd recommended that I write to you and request that a van be donated to the Cabarms Workshop. The Cabarrus Workshop has a long history of providing quality services to individuals with mental retardation in Cabarrus County. One of the many services we provide to our clients is a janitorial training program. This service takes our clients into the community and provides them with on-site training at several local churches and businesses. As you can imagine, much of the cost of providing this service is transporting the clients and supplies to the various places that we clean. The van that we currently use to support this service is in very bad condition. We will either need to replace it very shortly or consider discontinuing the service to those clients. The donation ora mini van to the Workshop will allow us to continue the service with very little impact on the county. Thank you for your consideration with regards to this request.
