WHY MARRIOTT QUALIFIES FOR AN INCENTIVE GRANT: <br /> <br />The Mamott has the potential to make Cabarrus County a meetings <br />destination and be the catalyst for furore meeting facility development and <br />other full service hotels. <br /> <br />It provides the foundation of a meeting site that is truly a public / private <br />partnership that can achieve the recommendation for meeting facilities as <br />outlined in the KPMG conv6ntion center study. <br /> <br />· It creates a public/private partnership that offers a larger facility than any <br /> single developer would build exclusively as a private sector initiative. <br /> <br />· It spurs the development of a high-quality hotel and meeting space facility <br /> and surrounding envh'onment. <br /> <br />Meetings and conventions can supply all our hotels with clients that have <br />higher expenditures per day in our county than a transient leisure traveler <br />and have longer stays in an area. <br /> <br />Projects of this magnitude are not common in the country today because of <br />the expense to run a full service hotel and meeting facility. Cabarrus <br />County has the opportunity to be the premier small meetings market for the <br />Charlotte Region, the State and the Southeast. <br /> <br />The Marriott starts the process to build the meeting space that is essential <br />for Cabarrus County to capitalize on non-resident expenditures. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br /> <br />
