Bennett ,~ <br /> <br />August 3, 1998 <br /> <br />Ambulance Collections/Outside Agency <br /> <br /> Ambulance billing is handled by the tax collection department. They work the <br />accounts actively for six months pursuing all third party insurance, Medicaid and <br />Medicare, and then following up with client letters, garnishments, and other collection <br />techniques as necessary. After six months they turn the accounts over to the collection <br />agency. Total ambulance collections for the fiscal year were $1,143,074. <br /> <br /> Last year Cabarrus County contracted with John Berry & Associates, a collection <br />agency, to pursue collection of ambulance bills over six months old. I have attached a <br />monthly account analysis of collections by the agency. The total collected amounted to <br />$107,787.21 less fees of $37,725.97 giving the County a net of $70,061.24. <br /> <br /> We believe this relationship has worked well and plan to continue with the <br />success of this program. <br /> <br /> Finance Department <br />P.O.
