Sec. 26-58. Standards for patient care by first responder agency and the first responder <br /> member. <br /> <br /> (a) At the scene of an emergency, the first responder agency shall administer basic life support <br /> and first-aid, including the taking of vital signs, to the sick or injured in a way that is consistent <br /> with the level of state medical responder first r¢~pcn~¢r training set forth. ~ <br /> <br /> (b) At the scene of the emergency and prior to the ambulance provider's arrival, the senior first <br /> responder shall be in control of the emergency victim's care provided by that agency and its <br /> members. <br /> <br /> (c) Upon arriving at the scene of the emergency, the crew on the ambulance shall assume control <br /> of the victim's care. <br /> <br /> (d) The ambulance crew shall, at their discretion, release the first responders when they feel. their <br /> service is no longer needed at the emergency scene or may request one or more first responders <br /> to assist in the transportation of the patients to the hospital. <br /> <br /> (e) The first responders shall act in a professional and courteoqs manner at all times when <br /> administering care to patients. <br /> <br />(f) The first responders and the first responder agency shall be liable for their actions pertaining <br />to the care of the patient prior to the arrival of the ambulance provider. <br /> <br />(Ord. of 12-7-92(2), § 8) <br /> <br />Sec. 26-59. Standards for Recordkeeping. <br /> <br />Each first responder agency shall maintain the following records: <br /> <br />(1) Record of patient treatment. For each patient rendered assistance by first responder agency, <br />the following information will be recorded on a patient treatment form: <br /> <br />a. Name, age, and address of the patient. <br /> <br />b. Date and time treatment rendered. <br /> <br />c. Location of treatment rendered. <br /> <br />d. Patient complaints and condition at the time of treatment rendered. <br />e. Patient vital signs and time recorded. <br />f. Treatment rendered the patient by the first responder. <br />g. Printed names of the first responders who provided patient care. <br /> <br />(2) Two copies of the record of patient treatment shall be given to the ambulance crew when they <br />assume control of the patient's care at the emergency scene. <br /> <br />(3) A copy of the completed record of patient treatment will be given to the coordinator of the <br /> <br /> <br />
