Proposed 10/19/98 <br /> <br />VII. <br /> <br />Drug-Free Awareness Program <br /> <br />A. The County Manager or his or her designee shall establish a Drug-Free <br /> Awareness Program to inform all employees of the following: <br /> <br /> 1. The dangers of drug abuse in the workplace; <br /> 2. The County's policy of maintaining a drag-free workplace; <br /> 3. Any available alcohol or drug counseling, rehabilitation, and <br /> employee assistance programs; and <br /> 4. The penalties that may be imposed upon employees for violations <br /> of this Policy. <br /> 5. Employee Assistance Program (for substance abuse): <br /> <br /> United Family Services - Cabarrus County - 786-7918; <br /> Mecklenburg County - 332-8619; Union County - 283-1537. <br /> You may also contact Don Moorhead, Human Resources Director - <br /> 788-8100 or Lewis Williams, Safety Director - 788-9869 for more <br /> details. <br /> <br />B. All supervisory employees shall receive information on (1) how to detect <br /> the use or abuse of alcohol and controlled substances among employees <br /> and (2) how to implement this Policy and any roles or procedures <br /> promulgated thereunder. <br />C. Any employee who voluntarily seeks assistance for a problem regarding <br /> alcohol or drug abuse shall be encouraged to participate in an alcohol or <br /> drug abuse assistance or rehabilitation program. Once a person has been <br /> selected for testing it is too late to step forward and seek assistance. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br /> <br />
