EDWARD RUSSELL, LIEUTENANT CABARRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S Og~'ICE EFFECTIVE DATE OF RETIREMENT 11-1o98 Ed Russell began his career with the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office on March 17, . 1973 after having served a year on the auxiliary. and his wife Gladys, have three children Ed, Jr., Christina and Brent. Ed began work at the Sheriff's Office as a patrol officer and remained in that division. He rose through the ranks to Sergeant and then to Lieutenant where he served until his retirement. During his time with the department Ed continued his education earning this Associates Degree in Police Science from Central Piedmont Community College and later his Bachelors Degree from UNC-Charlotte in 1979. lle has also completed well over I000 hours of specialized training in law enforcement related subjects. Ed is an outstanding law enforcement professional and has served the citizens of Cabarrus County in an exemplary manner for over 26 years. Ed provided unwavering loyalty to the department and leadership to his subordinates in a manner that is truly commendable. When the department first started moving into the PC era he brought his personal knowledge to that task and often helped solve problems that no one else could handle. By his personal efforts he helped others grow and succeed in the profession. He could always be counted to get the job done in an outstanding manner. I can honestly say that Ed has given unselfishly of his time and efforts for the benefit of the department in service to the citizens of Cabarrus County.
