EDWARD RUSSELL, LIEUTENANT <br />CABARRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S Og~'ICE <br /> <br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF RETIREMENT 11-1o98 <br /> <br />Ed Russell began his career with the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office on March 17, . <br />1973 after having served a year on the auxiliary. <br /> <br />and his wife Gladys, have three children Ed, Jr., Christina and Brent. <br /> <br />Ed began work at the Sheriff's Office as a patrol officer and remained in that division. <br />He rose through the ranks to Sergeant and then to Lieutenant where he served until his <br />retirement. <br /> <br />During his time with the department Ed continued his education earning this Associates <br />Degree in Police Science from Central Piedmont Community College and later his <br />Bachelors Degree from UNC-Charlotte in 1979. lle has also completed well over I000 <br />hours of specialized training in law enforcement related subjects. <br /> <br />Ed is an outstanding law enforcement professional and has served the citizens of <br />Cabarrus County in an exemplary manner for over 26 years. <br /> <br />Ed provided unwavering loyalty to the department and leadership to his subordinates in a <br />manner that is truly commendable. When the department first started moving into the PC <br />era he brought his personal knowledge to that task and often helped solve problems that <br />no one else could handle. <br /> <br />By his personal efforts he helped others grow and succeed in the profession. He could <br />always be counted to get the job done in an outstanding manner. <br /> <br />I can honestly say that Ed has given unselfishly of his time and efforts for the benefit of <br />the department in service to the citizens of Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />We congratulate him on his retirement and wish him well in his future endeavors.
